A THIEF punched, kicked and spat on a mum in front of her children after she stopped him trying to rob an elderly woman.
The horrific assault has caused outrage after it was caught on CCTV at the entrance of a tube station.
It has led the police chief hunting the thug to vow: “I’ll get him if it’s the last thing I do.”
The clip shows a pensioner walking out of the Gamla stan station in Stockholm, Sweden, when her phone rings.
As she stops to answer the call the would-be thief walks up behind her and tries to steal her wallet out of her open bag.
But his attempt is foiled by a mother walking in the opposite direction with her two young Children.
She screams to the old woman to watch out and pushes the thug’s hand out of the way.
The thief then turns on the mum, who is holding the hand of one of her kids, kicks her in the stomach and hits her across the face.
He then walks off and leaves the station as she appears to shout something after him.
But seconds later he returns and runs after the woman before spitting in her face as she holds the child in her arms.
Chief investigator Stefan Tellqvist said: “It is the worst thing I have ever seen during my years as a police officer.”
He is set to retire this year but has now made it his mission to put the thug behind bars, adding: “I will get him, if it’s the last thing I do.”
